Paris Hilton `arrested`
Paris Hilton has allegedly been arrested in South Africa for smoking marijuana.
The hotel heiress was watching Brazil play Netherlands in the quarter finals of the FIFA World cup when she was escorted out of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth earlier today, reports The Times Live. Paris is believed to have been taken to the Mount Road Police Station in St. Croix just before 8pm local time.
Mark Magadlela, Provincial Head of Detectives in Port Elizabeth, reportedly confirmed Hilton was at the police station and has been released. "There is an inquiry. I don`t want to comment further," he was quoted as saying.
Reports of an arrest have sparked surprise since just hours after the match, Paris took to her Twitter account to reveal she had loved watching the soccer match and was enjoying her visit to the country.
"Had so much fun at the game today. What a match! I love South Africa! It`s so beautiful here. I can`t wait to go on the Safari this week and see all the amazing animals," she wrote.
A spokesperson for Paris was yet to comment on the alleged incident at the time of writing.
